MAPLETON, Iowa - Marion Jennette Kraft, 94, of Mapleton died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, S.D.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Shirley Textor officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Mapleton. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Kraft was born Dec. 15, 1902, in Milford, Iowa, the daughter of the Rev. Benjamin and Cella (Duff) McKeen. She moved with her family to Hoskins, Neb. in 1905, and to Madison, Neb. in 1910. She graduated from Madison Public School in 1921. The family moved to Coleridge, Neb., in 1921, where she taught school in Cedar County rural schools for three years. She attended Wayne State College in Wayne, Neb., then moved to Mapleton in August of 1926, where she taught for three years.

She married Adrian Ronald Kraft on June 21, 1928, in Coleridge, Neb. She assisted her husband in the Kraft Insurance Agency from 1936 to Oct. 1, 1975, when the agency was sold. He died Nov. 21, 1975.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, where she taught Sunday School for 29 years. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #300. She served as Worthy Matron in 1937, and held several other offices. She belonged to the PEO, where she was president and served as chaplain for many years.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Ronald and Patricia Kraft of Yankton; three granddaughters, Mary Margaret Conway, Vicki Gallagher, and Julie Kay Kraft; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cecelia Vanderbur on Aug. 30, 1997; a brother, Seth; and a sister, Isabella.
