CASTANA, Iowa — Lillie M. Rohde, 91, formerly of Castana died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Rev. Edgar Bode officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Rohde was born Jan. 28, 1908, near Mapleton, the daughter of Bernhard and Bertha (Kuhlmann) Kuhlmann. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended rural schools in the Moorhead and Dunlap, Iowa area.

She married John E. Rohde on Feb. 1, 1930, in Mapleton. He died Aug. 22, 1977.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, LaJeanne and Elvin Ketelsen of Onawa, Iowa; a nephew whom she raised, Gary Rohde; two brothers and their wives, Erwin and Lucy Kuhlmann and Arnold and Marie Kuhlmann, all of Lake Charles, La.; a sister, Velma Campbell of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Esther and Darlene Kuhlmann, both of Onawa; six grandchildren, Lynn, Kevin, Kim, Marva and Mark Ketelsen and Brenda Yarnell; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosa Rohde and Agnes Pedersen; six brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Wilburt, Ahart, Alvin and LaVerne; and two nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
