MAPLETON, Iowa-- Paul Revere Kinney, 90, of Mapleton died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Shirley Textor officiating. Burial will be in, Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.
Mr. Kinney was born Dec. 24, 1908, in Springfield, Ill., the son of John Wesley and Lenora Belle (Landes) Kinney. He moved with his family to Ida Grove, Iowa, and then to Sioux Rapids, Iowa. In 1914, they moved to Solon Springs, Wis. In 1917, they moved to the Cushing and Correctionville, Iowa, area until 1925. He was then employed in the Danbury, Iowa, and Mapleton area.
He married Wilhemena Freyda Hartleben on Feb. 14, 1933, in Vermillion, S.D. The couple farmed near Mapleton until purchasing their own farm near Mapleton in 1943. She died Dec. 4, 1952.
He married Carol Lee Cook on Jan. 5, 1954, in Phoenix. The couple farmed near Mapleton until selling the farm in 1965, and moving into Mapleton. He was then employed as a clerk/carrier for U.S. Post Office, retiring in February 1977.
He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and Quarry Lodge 404 A.F. & A.M. of Mapleton.Survivors include his wife; and a daughter, Paula Kay Kinney of Lincoln, Neb.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene; and two brothers, John and Reed.
