MAPLETON, Iowa — Rose Jane Johnson, 81, of Mapleton died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton with the Rev. Bob Fritzmeier officiating. Burial will be in the Center Cemetery in Castana, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 28, 1917 in Riverside, Neb., the daughter of Harry and Rose (Lamphier) Cady.

She married Everett Johnson in Sioux City on Oct. 24, 1938. She worked at Maple Heights Nursing Home for more than 10 years. He died in 1979.

Survivors include two sons, John and his wife Sandy of Sergeant Bluff and Jack of Mapleton; one daughter-in-law, Betty Weikel of Sergeant Bluff; three brothers, George of Valentine, Neb., Bill of Woodlake, Neb. and Lyle of Passaic, N.J.; one sister, Pearl Smith of Kansas City; five grandchildren, Gary and Chris Weikel, Jeff, Angie and Johnny Johnson and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles; four sisters and two brothers.
