10 November 1966Howard M. Queen was born November 20, 1908 at Burlington, Colo. and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial hospital in Onawa on November 3. Death came at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 13 days.
May 19, 1934 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Edna Clark at Sioux City. To this union two children were born. The couple made their home at Sloan for a few years, and then in 1943 moved to the Soldier community, where they have since lived.
Howard was a good, honest hard working man and respected by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Soldier; a son, Norman R. of Soldier; a daughter, Mrs. William (Charlotte) Clark of Avon Park, Fla.; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Hazel) Clark of Whiting and Mrs. Maude Seubert of Sioux City; a brother, Harold of Sloan; a number of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gladys Hickman.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Saturday, November 5 at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Mrs. George 0. Brown sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden", with Mrs. Oliver Kelley as organist.
Active bearers were Lawrence Major, Vernon Clemon, Newell Lund, Darrell Owens, Melvin Heck and Terry Swain.
Honorary bearers were Henry Norby, Herbert Holverson, Oscar Holverson, Art Lord, Ted Lee, Art Holverson, Ward Jones, Clarence Bergstrom, George Burson, Harry Lord, Roy Swain and Donald Halverson. Interment was in the Onawa cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson funeral home.
