16 September 1975Mrs. Elmer O. Queen, 86, Yuba City, Calif., a former resident of South Sioux City, died Sunday at a Yuba City hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Queen, the former Alice L. Ball, was born Nov. 25, 1888, at Mapleton, Iowa. She was married in February of 1910 at Decatur, Neb. Mr. Queen died Jan. 24, 1964 in Sioux City.
The Queens lived in Thurston County prior to moving to South Sioux City in 1950. Mrs. Queen moved to California in 1967.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City.
Survivors include five sons, Newell and Clark, both of South Sioux City, Dwight of Marysville, Calif., Meral of Red Bluff, Calif., and Roland of Yankton, S.D. ; a daughter, Mrs. Kent (Bernice) Dewy of Yuba City; 21 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
The body is expected to arrive in South Sioux City this evening.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Jack Becker Funeral Home in South Sioux City. The Rev. Duane C. Queen, Mrs. Queen's grandson and pastor of the First Presbyterian Church at Hastings, Neb., will officiate. Burial will be in Albaton, Iowa cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Howard Harris, Larry Walker, Kenneth Stading, Elmer Krumwiede, Ronald Patenude and Mark Horan.
