22 April 1976Raymond W. Quitt, a resident of Onawa, Iowa for the last 5 years, passed away April 16, 1976, in the Burgess Memorial Hospital, of a heart attack.
He was born May 21, 1909 at Ray, N. D., the son of August and Kate Gydrson Quitt. He was united in marriage to Lucile Lamb on December 26, 1945, at Hanford, Calif. Ray served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a professional heavy equipment operator, a profession he followed many, many years.
Before moving to Onawa, he had been a resident of the Moorhead, Iowa community for 25 years. Ray was a member of the Moorhead Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lucile, of Onawa, Iowa; one son, Gordon and his wife, Nancy of Sioux City, Iowa; one grandson, Spencer, three brothers, Arthur of Glenwood, Minn., Grant of Montana, and Edward one sister, Mrs. Hannah Eliason of Glenwood, Minn., and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Services were Monday, April 19, 1976 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa with Rev. Brian Guy officiating. The organist, Mary Lou Kratz, accompanied soloist, Donald Dukes in the selections "The Old Rugged Cross Made The Difference" and "Lilly of the Valley. "
Bearers were Orville Lamb, Charles Woodard, Donald Lamb, Dwight Lamb, Gordon Poling, and Robert Woodard. Interment was in the Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa.
