25 February 1982MRS. JERRY MELTON DIES IN MINNESOTA
Mrs. Jerry Melton of Owatonna, Minn., the former Sharon L. Graetz of Soldier, died Wednesday, February 17 in a hospital in Minneapolis after a short illness.
Services were held at 4 p.m. Friday in the Woodrich Funeral Home at Owatonna. Additional services were held at Soldier Lutheran Church at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 1982. The Rev. William Carter officiated. Burial was in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Melton, 41, was born July 2, 1940 at Soldier. She graduated from Soldier High School in 1958.
She married Jerry Melton August 20, 1970, in Soldier. They made their home in Owatonna where she had been an elementary teacher in the public schools since 1963.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Mrs. Emma Graetz of Soldier, her grandmother, Edith Graetz of Escondido, Calif., and one brother, Jere of Independence, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Graetz.
At the services in Soldier, Gilma Gibbs was organist. The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God."
Casket bearers were Marvin Ulven, Ronald Hanson, Leonard Hanson, Orvin Ulven, Glen Hanson and Jim Wells.
At the services in Owatonna, Rev. Arthur Lunow officiated. Organist was Julie Johnson and a duet of Jean Krause and Mark Houghton sang.
