Lewis Melby Buried Here Monday

Lewis Melby, 75, a resident of the Soldier community most of his life, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cecil Brady, in Oklahoma City, Okla. last Friday after a long illness. He had been bedfast from a stroke for several months. He was a pioneer of the community, coming to this country from Norway when a small child.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 18 with a short service at the Oldham Funeral Home and at the Soldier Lutheran south church at 2:00 o'clock with Pastor John C. Kilde giving the sermon.

Burial was in Soldier Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Oldham Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Milton and Robert Melby, Clifford Lee, Leo Nordaker, Howard Nordaker and Harlow Wingate.

Lewis Melby, son of Christian and Kari Melby, was born in Norway, April 25, 1880 and passed away at the home of his daughter in Oklahoma City, Okla., Friday, July 15, 1955 at the age of 75 years.

He was united in marriage to Mayme Berg on April 15, 1907. To this union three children were born, Lorris of Englewood, Colo., Clara (Mrs. Cecil Brady) of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mable (Mrs. Walton Cunningham) of Billings, Montana.

Surviving are his wife, the three children, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
He had lived in the Soldier community most of his life, coming to this country when one year old.

He was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church.
