MAPLETON, Iowa--Charlotte Ida Jensen, 85, of Mapleton died Sunday, Dec. 21, 1997, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Castana Community Church in Castana, Iowa, with the Rev. Linda Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Kennebec Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Jensen was born Dec. 4, 1912, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Gertie (Gates) Parr. She graduated from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, with a degree in home economics. She taught in the Castana School for two years.

She married Maurice B. Jensen on June 3, 1936, in Charles City. The couple farmed in the Castana area. He died Jan. 22, 1996.

She was a member of Castana Community Church, the Ladies Aid, the Iowa Federated Women's Club, the Neighborhood Club, the Queen Esther Chapter 222 Order of the Eastern Star, a past Matron of Queen Esther Chapter and Hathor Temple Number 38 Daughters of the Nile.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Karen and Bob Jones of Wakefield, Neb., Rita and Merrill Hawthorne of Lohrville, Iowa and Janet and Michael Erwin of New Virginia, Iowa; a son and his wife, Jim and Barb of Onawa, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Marian Parr of Arlington, Va. and Alice Larsen of Mapleton; a brother-in-law, Harry Day of Bloomington, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; seven sisters; a son, Maurice "Sonny"; and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Jensen.
