Loretta M. Rose, 90, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Whiting, IA.

Loretta M. Rose was born on February 7, 1907, at Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Matlida (Randall) Kepner. She was united in marriage to Roscoe Rose December 10, 1945, at Ponca, Nebraska. The couple lived in the Mapleton and Castana, Iowa communities. Roscoe died August 7, 1982.

Loretta found pleasure in playing cards, crocheting, craft work, traveling, and had a huge salt and pepper collection.

She was a member of the Castana Community United Church of Christ in Castana, Iowa.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include a step son and his wife, Lyle and DiAnn Rose of Mapleton, Iowa; a step daughter and her husband, Maxine and Don Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa; five step grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews plus many good friends.

Along with her husband, Roscoe, Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lester and Lloyd, three sisters, La Noma Arney Ranard, Lucille McNeil, and Lorene Sanders.

Loretta was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Services were held on Thursday, June 5, 1997 at the Armstrong Chapel, Mapleton, Iowa, with Pastor Linda Boggs officiating. The organist was Patsy Petersen.

Pallbearers were Leroy Kepner, Herb McMillan, Ronnie Burke, Russell Kepner, Keith Carlson, and David Rose. Interment was at Kennebec Cemetery, Castana, Iowa. Arrangements were by the Armstrong Funeral Service, Mapleton, Iowa.
