ONAWA, Iowa — Opal Darlene Kuhlmann, 76, of Onawa died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Patricia F. Minnick officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, rural Turin, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Kuhlmann was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Winter, S.D., the daughter of Clarence and Sarah Loucetta (Scott) Shannon. She moved with her family to Sloan, Iowa, as a young child.

She married LaVerne Lester Kuhlmann on Dec. 7, 1940, in Mapleton, Iowa. The couple moved to the Onawa area in 1955. He died Oct. 4, 1996, in Onawa.

She was employed as a nurse's aid at various nursing homes in the area. She enjoyed working in the yard.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Smith of Onawa and Loucetta and her husband, Bill Seyler of Missouri Valley, Iowa; five sons and their wives, Randel and Noreen of Davenport, Iowa, Richard and Leigh of Oklahoma City, Okla., Roger and Deb of Missouri Valley, Ron and Brenda of Hornick, Iowa, and Donald and Laura of Onawa; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leraine Babcock of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Barbara and her husband, Roger Collins of Danbury, Iowa; a brother, Paul Shannon of Omaha, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Ted Smith; a great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Lewis and Adelbert.
