Anna Susan Lang, 99, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, died at Pleasant View Nursing Home at Whiting on December 30, 1996, where she had resided since 1983.

She was born March 23, 1897, at Pisgah, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey and Ella (Gearren) Kirkpatrick. She attended school at Pisgah. On March 27, 1912, she married William Lang at Onawa. The couple farmed in the Charter Oak community and moved to Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, after re-tiring. Mr. Lang died October 26, 1968, in Sioux City.

Survivors include two daughters, Bertha Koster and her husband, August, of Onawa and Mabel Cartwright of Omaha; 8 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; one brother, John Kirkpatrick of Salem, Oregon; one sister, Dorothy King of Seattle, Washington; and a sister-in-law, Hazel Kirkpatrick of Onawa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Gertie Jester; five sisters, three brothers; two great grandsons; and one great-great grandson.

Funeral Service were held at 3:00 PM, Friday, January 3, 1997, at the Pearson Funeral
Chapel, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Steven Hetzel officiating. The organist, Mrs. Jack Jordan played the selections, "Beyond The Sunset" and "Abide With Me".

Casket Bearers were Leo Jones, Ronald Jones, Larry Jones, Richard Mass, and Dwight Koster.

Interment was in the Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
