Ethel Mae (Beeney) Martindale, 86, of Onawa, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 14, 1997, at her residence.

She was born June 12, 1910, at Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Richard and Sarah (Wholstenholm) Beeney. Prior to her marriage she was employed in the finishing department of a glove factory in Peoria. On April28, 1929, she was married to Glenn Martindale in Peoria. The couple farmed near Turin for 59 years before retiring to Onawa in February 1989.

She was a member of the Turin United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Church Women, and had been a Sunday School teacher. She was a 4-H leader for several years.

Survivors include three sons, Glenn Jr. and his wife, Doris of Fremont, Nebraska, Eugene and his wife, Betty of Turin, and Richard of Omaha; a daughter, Marlene Sargent of Omaha; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters; three sisters, Elizabeth Mariner of Peoria, Illinois, Ruth Randle of Peoria and Wilma and her husband, Bill Hamilton of Ft. Myers, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Howard, Harold and an infant brother; and five sisters, Gertrude Banks, Eleanor Stafford, Dorothy Beeney, Eva Beeney, and an infant sister.

Funeral Services were held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 17, 1997, at the United Methodist Church, Turin, Iowa, with Rev. David H. Wagner officiating. The organist was Mrs. Bill Roberg and the Congregational Hymn was "Jesus Is All The World To Me". The pianist was Mrs. Paul Petersen, Jr. and the soloist, Mrs. Harvey Hanson sang the selections, "In The Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset". The Recessional Hymn was by Rev. Louis Aitken.

Casket Bearers were grandsons, Todd Martindale, Gary Martindale, Rick Martindale, Joe Martindale, Bradley Martindale, and Mike Sargent.

Interment was in the Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa, with the Lord's Prayer lead by Randy Martindale.

Arrangements were by Pearson Funeral Home,
Onawa, Iowa
