CHEROKEE, Iowa — Helen M. Hall, 84, formerly of Cherokee died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at Regency Square Care Center in South Sioux City after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, with the Rev. Timothy Schott officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Mrs. Hall was born Oct. 5, 1914, in Ute, the daughter of John and Mary (Houston) Hartigan. She attended schools in Ute, graduating from Ute High School in 1931. She received her teaching certificate from Atlantic, Iowa.

She taught in Crawford County for three years.

She married Ralph Berg on Feb. 24, 1936. She later married Howard Hall. Both preceded her in death.

She became a licensed practical nurse in 1969 and worked in Sioux City until 1975.

Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Stiles of Florence, Colo., Elaine and her husband, Royden Rupp, of Cleghorn, Iowa, and JoAnn and her husband, Ben Reed, of Spirit Lake, Iowa; four sons, William Berg and his wife, Sylvia, of Gig Harbor, Wash., John "Jerry" Berg of Westminister, Colo., Ron Berg and his wife, Mary, of Cherokee and Jim Berg and his wife, Pokhui, of Tacoma, Wash.; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and two brothers.
