Allen R. Meadows,75 , of Ute died Monday October 2, 1984 in a hospital in Denison.

Mr. Meadows was born July 2, 1909 near Soldier and was raised in the Soldier community. He married Florence Riemer September 13, 1928, at Denison. He worked for the Corps of Engineers on the Missouri river until 1941. They farmed east of Soldier until 1946 when they moved into Soldier where he operated a blacksmith shop and later managed the Co-op. In 1950 they moved to Ute where he and his son, Norman, were partners in Meadow and Son Blacksmith Shop. Allen and his son, Norman, were partners in the fertilizers.

They later operated Meadows Fertilizer Service, retiring in 1973. He had been a school bus driver for 25 years for the Ute Public School.

Mr. Meadows was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Ute Commercial Club. He was a former member of the Men's Club and the Ute Town Council and was a former Boy Scout leader.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Norman of Ute and Burdette of Charter Oak; one daughter, Mrs. DuWayne (Marilyn) Meseck of Ute; three brothers, Launie of Onawa, Cecil of Ute and Lyle of Soldier; four sisters, Mrs. Rose Lee and Mrs. Effie Olson, both of Soldier, Mrs. Hazel Mesenbrink of Onawa and Mrs. Mae Jerup of Chicago, Ill.; 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jennie (Rawley) Meadows, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 son, 1-granddaughter, and 1-great grandson.

Funeral services were held at, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 4,1 1984 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church' in Ute with Rev. Robert Leege.
