UTE, Iowa - Gary Eugene Suckstorf, 51, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Ute, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, in Mesa, Ariz.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute, with the Rev. Edgar Bode officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Suckstorf was born on Nov. 3, 1947, in Anthon, Iowa, the son of Harry and Della (Lill) Suckstorf. He was raised in Ute, graduating from Charter Oak-Ute High School in 1965. He worked in Omaha, Neb., and in Denison, Iowa, where he worked for Johnson Motor in the body shop.

He married Tammy Thoreson in Soldier, Iowa.

He started his own business, Ute Auto Body. In 1977, he started Sookies Speed and Custom in Ute. He moved to Tempe, Ariz., in 1989, and then moved to Mesa, where he worked for Auto Zone until the time of his death.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Harry and Dottie of McCook Lake, S.D.; two daughters, Michelle Sigler and her husband, Eric of Mesa, and Jodie Suckstorf of Charter Oak, Iowa; one granddaughter, Brittany Sigler; a sister-in-law, Lois Suckstorf of Kingsley, Iowa; one niece; two great-nieces; a great-great-niece; one great-great nephew; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Wayne; and a great-nephew, Shane.
