Lyle L. Meadows, 67, of Soldier, Iowa, died on Saturday, July 19, 1986, in a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 1986, in the United Methodist Church in Ute, Iowa. Reverend James Gubser officiated. Burial was in the St. Clair Cemetery with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5605 of Ute, Iowa. A prayer service was at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 1986, at the Walter Funeral Home.

Mr. Meadows was born on February 16, 1919, to William and Jennie (Bawley) Meadows on a family farm near Soldier, Iowa. He married Frances Larson on June 22, 1941, at Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple resided on a farm near Soldier, Iowa, until the summer of 1952, when he worked in Greenland at Thule Air Base.

From 1952 until 1967, he worked for the Monona County A.S.C. from 1967 until 1977, he worked as an electrician for Wilson Trailer in Onawa, Iowa, and later in Sioux City, Iowa. In the fall of 1985, they moved into Soldier, Iowa.

Mr. Meadows was a member of the United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and presently was commander of the V.F.W. Post at Ute, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary of West Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Karen)
Mifferd of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Mrs. John (Karol) Hast of Denison, Iowa; two brothers, Launie of Onawa, Iowa, and Cecil of Mapleton, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Rose Lee and Mrs. Effie Olson, both of Soldier, Iowa, and Mrs. Mae Jerup of Chicago, Illinois; and seven grandchildren, Lyle and Leanne Meadows, Angie and Niki Mefferd, and Jim, Pam, Allen, and Jennifer Hast.

Pallbearers were Ronald Holt, DuWayne Meseck, Keith Meadows, Ronnie Meseck, Phillip Meadows, and Roger Meadows.
