Ray Lester Meadows was born on December 6, 1903 in Soldier, Iowa and passed from this life in the Pleasant View Home in Whiting, Iowa on April 3, 1980. Death came at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 27 days.

Mr. Meadows made his home in Ute, then in California for a few years and then in the Sioux City area for about 20 years, the last five years he has been a resident of Pleasant View Home in Whiting.

On January 28, 1928, he was united in marriage with Goldie Aaby in Ute, she preceded him in death. In 1945, he was united in marriage with Dorothy Fruger in Sioux City, she preceded. him in death in 1947.

Ray was a good hard worker and served well in his chosen profession as a roofer. He had many friends.

Survivors include his four daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Donna) Allen of Sioux City, Mrs. Joe (Barbara) Thompson of Cucamonda, Calif., Mrs. Patricia Retling of Escondido, Calif., and Miss Debra Jean Meadows of Glenwood, Iowa, one son, Loren Meadows of San Bernardino, Calif., four brothers, Cecil and Allen both of Ute, Iowa, Launie of Onawa and Lyle of Soldier, five sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Hazel) Mesenbrink of Onawa, Mrs. Ingvold (Effie) Olson of Soldier; Mrs. Charles (Edna) Meyer of Denison, Mrs. Niles (May) Jerup of Franklin Park, Ill., and Mrs. George (Rose) Lee of Soldier, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by one daughter, one son, two brothers, and two sisters.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 1980, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel at Onawa, Iowa with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Mrs. Clara Kelley was the organist and she accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Robert Oehler, who sang the selections "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden.

Bearers were DeWayne Mesenbrink, Norman Meadows, Gordon Clemon, Bryce Lee, Darrell Mesenbrink and Phillip Meadows.

Interment was in St. Clair cemetery at Ute with arrangements, by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa, Iowa
