Evelyn Viola Stevens, 82, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Whiting, Iowa, died Monday, June 21, 1999, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Evelyn was born February 22, 1917, at Whiting, Iowa, the daughter of William F. and Nora Cecile (Kelly) McCoy.

She graduated from Sloan High School in 1936. On June 13, 1936, she married Roy Stevens at Sioux City, IA and resided in Sloan. In 1946 the couple moved to Whiting where they lived, until moving to Onawa last year.

She was affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church in Onawa and formerly affiliated with the Church of Christ at Whiting. She was involved in many different churches and their activities.

Survivors include her husband, Roy of Onawa; 2 sons and their wives, Gerald "Gerry" and Linda Stevens of Cabot, Arkansas, and Thomas and Carol Stevens of North Sioux City, S.D.; 1 daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" Miller of Onawa; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and their wives, Jesse and Millie McCoy of Fonda, Iowa, and James and Betty McCoy of Fenton, Michigan; and 4 sisters, Leona Pretlove of Greenville, South Carolina, Arlene and her husband, Roger Gross of Penney Farms, Florida, Margie and husband, James Abbott of Yankton, South Dakota, and Kay Schulz of Climbing Hill, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 1 great-grandchild; 3 brothers, Delbert, Ray, and Reid McCoy; and 1 son-in-law, Tom Miller.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, 1999, at the Evangelical Free Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor David Montecuollo officiating. The organist was Mrs. Alice Masters and the soloist, Mrs. Annette Sorensen, sang the selections, "Under His Wings" and "Someday He'll Make It Plain". The Congregational Hymn was "In The Garden".

Casket bearers were Scott Stevens, Jason Stevens, Jamie Stevens, Carl Miller, Ron Stevens, and Tommy Miller.

Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
