Esther Joann Mead, 65, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Casa De Paz Nursing Home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill G. Muller officiating. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Esther was born Feb. 14, 1942, at Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence G. and Edith Mae (Daniels) Mead. She grew up and attended school in the Mapleton area.

Esther married Gary Aalseth in the early 1960s. They separated in the late 1980s. Esther worked at East Side Restaurant in Le Mars, Iowa, and Red Lobster in Sioux City, among others. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include two sons, Keith Aalseth and Kurt Aalseth and his wife, Amy, all of Le Mars; a daughter, Kathy Aalseth of Le Mars; a grandson, Michael Aalseth of Le Mars; seven brothers, Rex and Nancy Mead of Mountain Home, Ark., Larry and Dorothy Mead of Anthon, Iowa, Earl Mead of Hornick, Iowa, Steven and Kris Mead of Georgia, Wayne and Luci Mead of Sioux City, Bill and Deb Mead of Dow City, Iowa, and Eric and Shelly Mead of Oklahoma; three sisters, Mabel and Jim Perin of Rhodes, Iowa, Ellen Mead of Rhodes, and Margaret Morones of Anthon; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Dennis.
