Former Onawa Lady Passes Away at Helena Montana

Mrs. James J (Alma) Mayne, 68, of 640 North Rodney, a Helena, Montana, resident for the past 41 years, died Friday night at St. Peter's hospital after an extended illness.

Born November 15, 1891, in Onawa, Iowa, Mrs. Mayne attended schools in Iowa and came to Helena in 1918. She was married in Helena August 30, 1919, to James J. Mayne. Since her husband's retirement, the couple had lived part of the time in Lincoln. She was known to her intimate friends and relatives as "Aunt Alma."

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mayne is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Glen (Ellen) Stubblefield of Anaconda and Mrs. Lloyd (Janet) Homad of Spokane; three grandchildren, Gary and Stephen Stubblefield and Jan Marie Homad; three brothers, August Johnson of Poulsbo, Wash., Charlie Johnson of Mapleton, Ia., and Clarence Johnson of Atlantic, Ia.; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Hamner of Elma, Wash., Mrs. Andrew Anderson and Mrs. Wayne Samson, both of Onawa and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. James Williams of Onawa and one who passed away in infancy.

Chapel Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Haglers Mortuary with the Rev. Lewis M. Harro of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial was in the family plot at Forestvale cemetery.
