OBITUARY OF CHARLES ELTON CROM

Charles Elton Crom, 66, of River Sioux, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 2, 1997, at his residence in River Sioux.

Mr. Crom was born April 1, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Carl and Viola (Richardson) Crom. In 1948, he graduated from Blencoe High School. He then joined the U.S. Air Force, making it his career and serving in the Vietnam War. His last duty station was Liberal, Kansas.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, building model air planes, and singing.

Survivors include 2 daughters and their husbands, Bonnie Kate and Mark Kittleson, Portland, Oregon, and Deborah Lee and Daniel McVeigh, Oregon City, Oregon; a son and his wife, Randall Jay and Ann Marie Crom, Parlin, New Jersey; 4 sisters and their husbands, Jean and Willard Ping of Columbus, New Mexico, Priscilla and Earl Frisk of Mondamin, Iowa, Marilyn and Ron Cassell of China Hills, California, and Karen and Wendell Moore of Richmond, Kentucky; a half-brother and wife, Charles and Sandra Smith of Helena, Montana; 7 grandchildren, Justin, Kirsten, Nathan, Brandon, and Ryan McVeigh and Kevin and Steven Crom; an aunt, Velma Clark of Kingsley, Iowa; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services were held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 5, 1997, at the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa, with Evangelist John Lizer officiating. The organist, Mrs. Irvin Frisk, played the selections "The Lord's Prayer" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand".

Casket bearers were Irvin` Frisk, Donald Bohall, Charles Osgood, Hugh Grimes, Leroy Johnston, and Clifford Cartmill.

Interment was in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe, Iowa, with Military Services by the Monona County Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2694, Onawa, Iowa, Logan Butcher, Commander.

Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home,
Onawa, Iowa.
