Clara Marie Maxwell, 75, lifetime resident of Onawa, Iowa, passed away July 31, 1983 at Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, Iowa.

She was born September 16, 1907 at Onawa, Iowa to James Emery Birk and Rose Ellen Rowland Birk. On November 1, 1923 she was united in marriage to Walter Maxwell at Onawa, Iowa. He died March 19, 1978 at Onawa, Iowa.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa.

Survivors include: two sons, Jim, Onawa and Leo, Bellflower, California; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lane and Mrs. Zella Scott, both of Onawa, Iowa, 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two sons, Harold and Wayne, two brothers, Jerald and Darrell and three sisters, Lola, Flossie and Vella.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 1983, at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating. Mrs. John Johnston, the organist, played the selections "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer".

Bearers were Thomas Scott, Donald White, Charlie Brown, Benton Parks, LaVerne Ooten, and Richard Warren.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa, Iowa.
