MAPLETON, Iowa - Elvira Stockfleth, 87, of Mapleton died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton with the Rev. Scott Fiege officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery in Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the Armstrong Funeral Home, with a prayer. service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Stockfleth was born Dec. 16, 1912, in Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Selma Margaret (Hannaman) Rickert. She was baptized and confirmed in Schleswig. She and her parents farmed and lived in the Ute, Charter Oak and Schleswig, Iowa communities and she attended Crawford County schools.

She married Harold Stockfleth on Feb. 5, 1933, in Ute. They farmed in the Ute, Delon, Battle Creek, and Mapleton, Iowa communities until their retirement in 1972 when they moved to Mapleton. He died July 16, 1976.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and a member of L.C.W. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and playing cards.

Survivors include a son, Donald of Marshalltown, Iowa; two grand-daughters, Susan Kazemba and Regina Levendosky; four great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Stockfleth of Kansas City, Clara Stockfleth of Ohio, and Doris Sorenson of Sioux City; a brother-in-law, Ed Gosch of Mapleton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Willis; and two sisters, Ruby Gosch and a sister who died in infancy.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Stockfleth, Weldon Stockfleth, Tom Pierce, Richard Bumann, Irvin Thies and Rick Nichols.
