Frank Edgington, age 72, of Mapleton, died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Omaha, Nebraska.

Memorial services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 26 at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Norma Jean Dose was the organist for the service and musical selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". A prayer service was held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton.

Frank Edgington was born April 13, 1928, the youngest son of John G. and Frances (Gooch) Edgington at the family home place southeast of Mapleton, Iowa, where he continued to reside until his death. Frank attended school in Mapleton, Iowa, and graduated from high school there in 1946. On October 21, 1950, he married Emma Jean Miller in Sioux City, Iowa. Frank was a lifelong farmer. He served as a trustee of the St. Clair Township and a trustee of the Upper Soldier Drainage District for many years.

Those survivors left to cherish Frank's memory include his wife, Emma Jean of Mapleton; three daughters and their husbands, Sue and Terry Gallentine of Denison, Iowa, Joan and David Reinen of Mankato, Minnesota, and Lisa and Frank Yates of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers and their wives, John and Genevieve Edgington of Omaha, Nebraska and Ralph and Peggy Edgington of Sioux City, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ralph (Arlene) Miller of Schleswig, Iowa and Mrs. Carl (Lois) Miller of Mapleton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
