Longtime resident of Ute passes away March 8

Edna A. Timm, age 87, of Ute, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000 at Sioux City, Iowa.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute with Pastor Edgar Bode officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Lynette Thies was the organist for the service and the congregation sang, "I'm But A Stranger Here" and St. Paul's Choir sang, "How Great Thou Art". A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Edna Alvina Timm was born November 13, 1912 in Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Dorothea (Kuhlmann) Kiepe. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and attended school at St. John's Lutheran School, all in Charter Oak, Iowa.

On December 22, 1931, Edna was united in marriage to Henry Timm at St. John's Lutheran Church by Rev. Amstein. To this union, six children were born. One died in infancy. The couple then farmed and lived in the Charter Oak community. They moved to a farm near Ute, Iowa in 1945 and moved into Ute in 1974. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December of 1981. Henry passed away November 20, 1987. Edna remained in Ute until July of 1999 when she entered Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, along with St. Paul's Ladies Aid.

Those survivors left to cherish Edna's memory include one son and his wife, Norman and Donna Timm of Ute; four daughters, Marlene Krueger of Omaha, Nebraska, Janice Phillips and her husband, Lyle of Ute, Myra Beener and her husband, Mike of Des Moines, Iowa, and Patti McAndrews and her husband, Steve of Stuart, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one brother, Ervin Kiepe of Ute, Iowa, along with many other relatives, neighbors and good friends.

Along with her husband, Edna was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynn Marie, her parents, three brothers, Herman Jr., Martin and Ferd, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Randy Krueger, Jeff Beener, Alan Phillips, Scott McAndrews, Arlan Phillips and Terry Kiepe.
