Member of Ute senior citizen's group remembered

Lucille M. Klaus, age 87, of Ute, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Sioux City, Iowa.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute with Pastor Edgar Bode officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Ruth Owens was the organist for the service and St. Paul's Choir sang, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less". The congregation sang, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives". The Armstrong Funeral Home of Ute was in charge of arrangements.

Lucille Emma Marie Klaus was born February 13, 1913 in Crawford County, Iowa, near Berne, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Christina (Claussen) Namanny. She was united in marriage to Peter F. Klaus on January 15, 1931 in Ute, Iowa. The couple were married for over 60 years. They farmed in the Ute area for 38 years and lived in Ute the last 31 years. Peter entered rest November 20, 1991.

Lucille was baptized and confirmed a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Ute. Lucille and her husband worked as janitors at the church for eight years. She was a member of St. Paul's Ladies Aid and the Ute Senior Citizen's Group serving as treasurer for a number of years. Her hobbies and interests included sewing, quilting, baking, gardening, and time spent with her card club.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her daughter, Jeanette Hult and her husband, Edgar of Sioux City, Iowa; one sister, Doris Namanny of Orlando, Florida; three grandchildren, Karen Hart and her husband, Craig, Jeanine Bohlmann and her husband, Richard, all of Clearmont, Wyoming, and Matthew Hult of Areada, California; five great-grandchildren, Eric and Amy Bohlmann, and Joshua, Tanner and Chase Hart; one daughter-in-law, LaVern Klaus of Ute, Iowa; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, along with several neighbors and good friends.

Along with her husband, Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Loren; a sister, Luella Knutson; two brothers, Lawrence and Vernon Namanny; and a great-grandson, Tyler Hart.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandson and great-grandchildren, Matthew Hult, Joshua Hart, Tanner Hart, Eric Bohlmann, Amy Bohlmann and Chase Hart.

Pallbearers were Ronald Knutson, Norman Klaus, Herbert Neumann, Paul Kuester, Norman Meadows and Vernon King.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Ladies Aid at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa.
