Jimmy R. Maxwell, 56, of Onawa, IA, died Monday, August 22, 1994, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

Mr. Maxwell was born December 31, 1937, in Onawa to Walter and Marie (Birk) Maxwell. He graduated from Onawa High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. On May 28, 1960, he married Gloria Hull at Onawa. He had worked for the State of Iowa Maintenance Highway Division for 20 years.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2270 in Onawa and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria; a son and his wife, Randy and Kathleen, of Rapid City, SD; a daughter, Karen Cox of Onawa; three grandchildren, Dustin, Katie and Jackie; and a brother and his wife, Leo and June Maxwell and their three children of Rexford, MT.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Wayne.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 1994, at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Rev. Donald R. Ludwick and Rev. Everett E. Epperson officiating. The organist, Mrs. John Johnston, accompanied the soloist, Mr. Steve Johnson, in the selection "The Old Rugged Cross".

Casket bearers were Charlie Brown, Charles Richardson, Marlin Bettin, Keith Richardson, Tom DeBauche and Art Haynes.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, IA
