Earl Maxwell 1908 - 1980

Earl Maxwell was born November 6, 1908, at Castana, Iowa, and passed from this life in the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa, on February 22, 1980. Death came following a long illness, he had reached the age of 71 years, three months and 16 days.

Earl was a life long resident of Monona County, serving as a farmer until retirement in 1974.

On October 1, 1927, he was united in marriage with Ellen Sundell in Onawa; to this union, two daughters were born, Mrs. Darold (Wilma) Earlywine of Omaha, Nebr. and Mrs. Paul (Donna) Kreisel of Blencoe.

Earl was a friendly person and so had many friends in this community. He was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Onawa.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen; the two daughters; seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Farber of Onawa and Mrs. Lloyd (Margaret) Gray of Dunlap, Ia.; two brothers, Farrell Maxwell of Yorba, Linda, Calif.; and Raymond Maxwell of Downey, Calif.; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

His parents, one brother, two sisters and one grandson preceded him in death.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 1980, at the First Christian Church at Onawa with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. The organist, Mrs. John Johnston, played the selections "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and 'Beyond The Sunset".

Bearers were Wayne Parks, Lloyd Bothwell, Gordon Walker, Farrell Orr, Harold Phipps and Leo Framke.

Interment was in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa, Iowa.
