UTE, Iowa — Minnie Wilhelmina Maria Riley, 97, of Ute died Monday, May 5, 1997, at her residence.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ute Christian Church, with the Rev. James McIntosh officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Mrs. Riley was born Dec. 3, 1899, near Schleswig, Iowa, the daughter of Franz and Hermina (Kusch) Keller. She lived her entire life in the Schleswig and Ute areas.

She married Clarence Wilfred Riley on May 26, 1920, in Onawa, Iowa. He died Dec. 20, 1990.

She was the St. Clair Township clerk and tax assessor for many years. She was employed at Roy's Grocery Store in Ute for several years.

Mrs. Riley was a member of Ute Christian Church, the Christian Church Ladies, the Sunshine Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Aaby Unit 442 of Ute. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Sandra Winn of Des Moines and Debra Rutchi of Onawa, Iowa; two great-grandsons; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Keller of Summerset, Calif.

She was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Jr., and his wife Crystal; six brothers and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Warner.

Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, January 14, 1997
the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak, Iowa, with Rev. Ben Jensen officiating.

Pallbearers were Rick Book, Bill Book, Ray Mumm, Gary Book, Bob Book, and Justin Hanson.

A Vigil Wake Service was held on Monday, January 13, 1997 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Charter Oak, Iowa.

Military graveside honors were by the V.F.W. Post #5605 and the American Legion Aaby Post #442, Ute, Iowa.

Interment was at the St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Arrangements by the Armstrong Funeral Service, Ute, Iowa
