UTE, Iowa — Gerald M. Warner, 51, of Ute died Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, at an Omaha, Neb. hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak, Iowa, with the Rev. Ben Jensen officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery of Ute, with military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5606 and the American Legion Aaby Post 442 all of Ute. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7 p.m., at the church. Visitation will resume from 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Armstrong Funeral Home of Ute is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Warner was born May 24, 1945, in Liberal, Kan., the son of Delbert and Lucile (Mitchell) Warner. He moved, with his parents, to a ranch north of Newport, Neb. He attended Climbing Hill, Iowa Elementary, graduating from Woodbury Central in 1964. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard, serving in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. He was employed as a custom farmer and a truck driver in the Ute community. He married Beverly Anderson on April 4, 1970, in Charter Oak.

He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic, Church of Ute, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5605, and the Ute Commercial Club, having served as president.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John and his wife Charlei of Nacogdoches, Texas and Mark of Ute; two grandsons, Christopher and Cody; his mother of Moville, Iowa; two sisters, Kathleen Warner of Peoria, Ill. and Mary Warner of Moville; and a brother and his wife, Mike and Peggy of Cedaredge, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his father.
