DUNLAP, Iowa — Loyle Wilhelm Ehlers, 82, of Dunlap died of cancer Friday, March 27, 1998, at Dunlap Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa, with Pastor Edgar Bode officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.

Mr. Ehlers was born June 10, 1915, near Ute, the son of Fred and Herda (Fester) Ehlers. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended rural school, graduating from the eighth grade.

He married Dorothy Clubine on Oct. 25, 1940, in Luverne, Minn. The couple farmed near Dunlap for 57 years.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bev Hartigan of Dallas, Texas; three sons, David of Dunlap, Donald and his wife, Jeanne, of Hancock, Iowa, and Dwight and his wife, Patti Jo, of Melbourne, Iowa; four grandchildren, Todd and Jon Ehlers and Heather and Noelle; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beatrice Naab and Ruby and her husband, Elvin Johnson, all of Ute; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lonald, Eldon, Lionel and Leonard.
