MAPLETON, Iowa — George Henry Blume, 87, of Mapleton died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Keith Hair officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery in Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Blume was born Sept. 30, 1910, near Charter Oak, Iowa, the son of Fritz and Sophie (Bramstedt) Blume.

He married Minnie Faye Doll on Jan. 30, 1935, in Onawa.

He farmed in the Charter Oak area until 1938, when they moved to a farm northwest of Soldier, Iowa. They retired in 1983, moving into Mapleton.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Gilbert and Marge of Kansas City, Kan., Jerry and Bonnie of Soldier, and Rick and Judy of Ute; a daughter, Judy Pohlman of Whiting, Iowa; three sisters, Clara Peters of Portland, Ore., Alma Lindemood of Grant Pass, Ore. and Elsie Blume of Denison, Iowa; a brother, Fritz of Denison; six grandchildren, Kris Blume, Ron Pohlman, Kerri McWeeny, Steve Blume, Brandon Blume and Garred Blume; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Quandt; four brothers, Paul, Edgar, Bill, and Herb; and a son-in-law, Ray Pohlman.
