SOLDIER, Iowa — Corrinne Mae Hanson, 90, of Denison, Iowa, formerly of Soldier, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Soldier Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul E. Anderson and Pastor Paul Fohs officiating. Burial will be in Soldier Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pearson Funeral Home in Soldier.

Mrs. Hanson was born Aug. 18, 1907, in Burbank, S.D., the daughter of Wallace L. and Emma 0. (Russell) Cusick.

She attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., and Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, S.D. She taught school in South Dakota before teaching at Soldier Elementary
School from 1934 to 1936. She taught at Mondamin, Iowa, from 1936 to 1938 and at East Monona Elementary in Soldier from 1963 to 1971.

She married Orvan J. Hanson on Aug. 25, 1938, in Burbank. The couple farmed near Soldier until retiring in 1971. They wintered in Mesa, Ariz., from 1975 to 1985. They entered the Eventide Nursing Home in Denison in July 1985. He died Feb. 10, 1987, in Denison.

She was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Farm Bureau Women.

She was presently attending Redeemer Lutheran Church in Denison.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Jon Hallquist of Atlantic, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Orvan Jerry and Barbara of Miami, Okla., and Phillip and Erika of Abilene, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Corinne Srsen, Rainer, Phyllis, Jessica and Leland Hanson and Jason and Jay Hallquist; two step-grandchildren, DeAnn Ballard and Denise Jenkins; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Larry Herron of Williamsburg, Va.; and two brothers, Burdette Cusick of Mira Loma, Calif., and Harold Cusick of Mesa, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by a sister, LaVern Macy, and four brothers, Frank, Lee, Glenn and Lawrence.
