UTE, Iowa--Lloyd Arnold Olson, 86, of Ute died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Soldier Lutheran Church in Soldier, Iowa, with the Rev. Paul Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Soldier Valley Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Abby Post 442 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5605 all of Ute. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a Masonic services at 7 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.

Mr. Olson was born Feb. 25, 1910, in Soldier, the son of Carl and Gertrude (Seaton) Olson. He lived in the Soldier, Mapleton and Ute areas.

In the late 1930s, he owned an auto salvage business in Mapleton. He married Rachel Lorraine Carter on June 17, 1939, in Mapleton. The couple owned and operated Olson Construction Company for more than 50 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Olson was a member of Soldier Lutheran Church, the Masons with the Loyalty Lodge at Ute, where he served as worshipful master for many years. He was currently serving, as he had for years, as worthy patron with the Ute Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Sioux City Consistory and the American Legion Abby Post 442.

Survivors include his wife and a sister, Opal Sheehan of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen, and a sister, Gay Quade.
