PISGAH, Iowa — Ernest LeRoy Nuzum, 89, of Pisgah died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at his home.

Services were held on Saturday, May 29, at R.L.D.S. Church in Pisgah, with Evangelist John Lizer and Pastor Margo Fohs officiating. Burial is in Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa.

Visitation with the family was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hennessey-Schumacher Funeral Home in Pisgah.

Mr. Nuzum was born Nov. 2, 1909, in Harrison County, Iowa, the son of Walter and Dora (McGee) Nuzum. He farmed in the Pisgah area all of his life.

He married Erma Harper on July 17, 1937. After Erma's death he married Ada (Fredrickson) Riley, on Sept. 1, 1968, in Moorhead.

He enjoyed fishing and carpentry.

Survivors include his wife, Ada; five children, Eugene of Omaha, Neb., Gary of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Dennis of Pisgah, Elaine Nielsen of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Lonnie of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; four stepchildren, Barbara Riley-Hunt, Charlanne Hiskey, Richard Riley, and John Riley, all of Phoenix; a sister, Essie Walker of San Diego; 30 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Erma, and two brothers, Roy and Lloyd.

Pallbearers were all grandchildren, Paul Hanna, Justin and Mark Nuzum, Mark Richardson, Shane Marcum and Jeremy Klitscher.
