SOLDIER, Iowa — Jerry "Jerbo" Blume, 52, of Soldier died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Soldier Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul E. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery at Moorhead, Iowa, with military rites conducted by Soldier Valley American Legion Post 462, Ute American Legion Post 442, and Ute VFW Post 5605. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Mr. Blume was born Dec. 23, 1946, at Ute, Iowa, the son of George and Minnie (Dahl) Blume. He graduated from East Monona High School in 1965.
He married Bonnie Woodward on Sept. 4 1966, at Soldier. He was employed with the Monona County Road Department at Soldier for over 29 years.

He joined the 185th Air National Guard and served in Vietnam.

He was a member of Ute Christian Church, and he was very active in community work.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his fiancé, Steve Blume and Michelle Maguire of Sioux City; his mother, Minnie of Ute; a sister, Judy Pohlman of Whiting, Iowa; and two brothers and their wives: Gilbert and Marge of Kansas City, Kan., and Rick and Judy of Ute.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; and a brother-in-law, Roy Pohlman.
