Delois Olive Sorenson, 96, formerly of Moorhead, Iowa, died Sunday, October 3, 1999, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Mrs. Sorenson was born September 9, 1903, in Valley City, North Dakota, the daughter of Faltine and Sofie (Siverson) Newbauer. She graduated from Valley City high school and attended Valley City State Teachers College for two years. On October 22, 1932, she married Charles R. Sorenson at Elk Point, South Dakota. The couple made their home at Moorhead. Mr. Sorenson died March 6, 1996 at Whiting. Delois had resided at Pleasant View Nursing Home at Whiting since July in 1995.

She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church at Moorhead and Moorhead Chapter #528 Order of Eastern Star. She loved to sew and tutor children at home and enjoyed teaching.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen lida of Alexandria, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother John; and a sister, Grace.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 1999, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church at Moorhead with Pastor Margo Fohs officiating. The organist, Mrs. Jean Dommer, played the selections "Beautiful Savior" and "Now The Day is Over" which were sung by the congregation.

Honorary Bearers were Clifford Swenson, Thorvold Peterson and Olan "Shorty" Pottorff.

Casket Bearers were Ray Hoffman, Randy Olson, Neal Hansen, Sam Johnson, Mark Johnson and Todd Pratt.

Interment was in Spring Valley Cemetery at Moorhead with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa
