Evangeline Mae Maule, 71, Onawa, Iowa, passed away July 4, 1985, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.

She was born April 24, 1914, in Monona County, Iowa, to William B. and Louisa (Larson) Wickersham. She graduated from Onawa High School in 1931 with a normal training degree. She then taught for five years in one-room rural schools in Monona County and for four years in Johnson County. On January 1, 1933, she was united in marriage to Elroy Maule at Elk Point, South Dakota. In the spring of 1941 they moved to a farm west of Onawa in Lincoln Township. He died April 19, 1984, at Onawa.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she taught Junior High School Sunday School and a member of David McNeill American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 129 and the Burgess Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a 4-H leader in Onawa, Chairman of Monona County Girls 4-H Clubs in the 1940's, Onawa Girl Scout Council Chairman, Brownie and Girl Scout leader in the 1950's and 1960's and served as the Lincoln Township Democratic Committee Woman for several years.

Survivors include a son, John, of Onawa; a daughter, Mrs. Rodger (Mary) Brubaker of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Jacobson of Onawa; two nieces, Mrs. Frank (Genevieve) Suleck of Lafferty, Ohio, and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Jensen of Winside, Nebr.; two nephews, William Jacobson of Cedar Rapids, Ia.; and William Wickersham of Blue Earth, Minn.; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, one sister, Elizabeth Witt; one brother, Andrew and two nieces, Irene Stranathan and Bernice Ploof.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 1985, at the United Methodist Church in Onawa with Rev. Hugh S. Bird officiating. Mrs. Jack Jordan, the organist, accompanied Jim Jordan who sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace".

Bearers were Robert Jensen, Richard Beedle, David Maule, Scott Maule, James Maule and William Jacobson.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
