ONAWA, Iowa--Ethel Propst,92, of Onawa died Wednesday, June 1, 1994, at the Onawa Hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Onawa. Steve Hartford and Bob Butler will officiate. Burial will he in the Onawa City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Propst was born Jan. 2, 1902, at Independence, Mo., the daughter of Samuel and Minnie Ann (Corban) Burnham. She graduated from William Chrisman High School at Independence in 1920 and Graceland College at Lamoni, with a BA Degree. She married Lawrence H. Propst June 9, 1924, at Independence. She was a high school math, English, drama and home economics instructor and also a principal. She had taught in the Iowa communities of Truro, Elkhart, Manilla, Yale, Des Moines Township and Clearfield, retiring in 1972. The couple moved to Onawa in 1977. He died Feb. 5, 1978, in Onawa.

Mrs. Propst was a lifelong member of the RLDS Church, National Education Association, Iowa State Education Association and past Worthy Matron of the. Order of Eastern Star Lodge in Manilla.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Jocquelyn) Girdner of Onawa; a son and his wife, Lawrence B. and Helen of Council Bluffs; two brothers, Chet Burnham of Independence and Robert Burnham of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Teresa Carlson, Kelli Propst, Marcelyn Clark, Michelle Hentz and Danny Propst; six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur; a sister, Clarice; and a grandson, Jed Girdner.
