Ethel B. Baker, 99, Hemet, California formerly of Onawa, Iowa, died January 3, 2005 at Meadowbrook Convalescent Hospital in Hemet.

A memorial graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005 in Harrison Cemetery, Whiting, IA with Rusty Hedger, Minister officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Ethel was born August 5, 1905 in Kansas. The Family moved to Whiting where she attended school and graduated from Whiting High School in the class of 1925. She married Elmer Baker. The couple farmed northwest of Onawa for many years until their retirement when they moved to Onawa.

Ethel moved to Hemet 11 years ago and lived near her niece Pearl Tippens Bledsoe and her nephew, Robert "Bob" Tippens who were both former residents of Whiting.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Ada Baker of Whiting; a nephew Robert "Bob" Tippens of Hemet and a niece and her husband, Pearl and Woody Bledsoe of Hemet.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; two sisters, Myrtle Calhoun and Alice Tippens; and three brothers, Alfred, Claud and LaVerne.
