18 June 2014Marjorie E. Ruffcorn, 91, of Onawa, Iowa died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Joel Gueningsman, officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the church 9:00 a.m. until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service at Onawa.
Marjorie Elaine was born November 14, 1922 near Soldier, Iowa the daughter of Marvel and Ida (Thompson) Lee. She grew up on a farm near Soldier and attended country school. She graduated from Soldier High School. Marjorie received her teaching certificate and taught country school for several years.
Marjorie and Clark D. Ruffcorn were united in marriage on March 25, 1947 at the Soldier Lutheran Church, Soldier, Iowa. The couple lived in Onawa for their entire married life. Marjorie cooked for a short time for West Monona High School, and she also worked at the Medicine Chest store in Onawa. Clark passed away November 5, 2010 in Onawa.
Marjorie loved being a homemaker and raising her children. Family was a very important part of her life. She enjoyed family gatherings, genealogy, taking family photos, and traveling. She also enjoyed being an election volunteer.
She has been an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and the WELCA ladies group.
Survivors include three sons, Mitch and his wife Mary of Bettendorf, IA, Terry of Onawa and Keith and his wife Jodie of Waterloo, IA and a daughter, Marlene and her husband Tom Furne of Omaha, NE; and seven grandchildren, Aaron, Anne, Benjamin, Alex, Jake, Ashley and Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Everett (LaVerna) Lee and Myrlin Lee.
Casket bearers will be Marjorie's grandchildren, Aaron Ruffcorn, Anne (Ruffcorn) Terranova, Benjamin Ruffcorn, Alex Ruffcorn, Jake Ruffcorn, Ashley Furne, and Ryan Furne.
