Travis John Ankerstjerne, 35, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Monday June 9, 2014, at his home after a life long battle with Cerebral Palsy and severe migraine headaches.

A Celebration of Travis life will be 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. with Chaplain Jocquelyn "Jackie" Girdner, officiating at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Travis was born September 20th, 1978 in Onawa, Iowa to Steven John and Vernice (Gloyer) Ankerstjerne. In spite of many physical disabilities, Travis graduated with pride from West Monona Community School in May of 1997. He served as a basketball and football manager for the West Monona Spartans all through High School, lettering in both.

Travis spent many months with surgeries and rehabilitation at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. In spite of growing up an Iowa Hawkeyes Fan, the nurses and doctors there converted him to also being a BIG Nebraska Corn Huskers fan as well.

The true love of this sports fan's life was the Chicago Cubs. Travis' favorite moment in time was visiting Wriggley Stadium, and singing along with Harry Carey.

Travis also attended a Garth Brooks concert and was very honored when Garth gave him his guitar.

Travis was an inspiration to so many people. His Football coach once said that if everybody had to work as hard as Travis Ankerstjerne had to work, they would understand the definition of courage and integrity.

Travis was so loving and kind to others. He gave great hugs. Through out his many struggles these past years, he was always asking how other people were and concerned about others rather than himself.

Travis loved his family and dearly missed his Dad and Grandpa's. Our reward during this difficult time is that he has been reunited with them in heaven along with our heavenly Father. He was not alone the night he died. His cat, Mr. Bo Jangles slept right beside him the entire night to keep his spirit company.

Those left to honor his memory include his Mother, Vernice Gloyer Ankerstjerne of Onawa; his sister Charity Ankerstjerne of Onawa; his nephew, Noah of Onawa, his maternal, grandmother LeNora Gloyer of Whiting, his paternal grandmother, Lila Ankerstjerne; His two favorite aunts, Sandy Beechy and Sherri (Bart) McDowell of Blencoe; his uncle, Scott(Julie) Ankerstjerne of Whiting, and many loving relatives and close friends in his journey through life.

Travis was preceded in death by his father Steven John Ankerstjerne; his Maternal Grandfather Vernon Gloyer; his Paternal Grandfather John Ankerstjerne; his sister in infancy; two aunts in infancy; and his very best friend Ralph Bean.
