Michele M. Dort, 63, of Omaha, Neb., died peacefully at Papillion Manor. She was born on Nov. 29, 1950, in Mapleton, and entered into peace on June 2 at the age of 63 years, 6 months, 4 days.

Michele was a very passionate and committed teacher who always made her students and fellow staff members her second family. She had a kind, gentle, loving, courageous and strong spirit and was a great joy to all of the lives she touched. She was loved deeply, and she will be missed.

Michele is survived by her parents, Ralph and Lavonne Martin; sisters, Susie Green and Vicki Musselman; daughter, Kelly Whitbeck (Russell, Jr.); son, Bryan Dort (Rachel); grandchildren, Gabbie Henderson, Cameron Fritton, Rylee Dort, Jakeb Whitbeck (Teresa), Shelby Whitbeck, and Haley Whitbeck; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Makina; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services were Thursday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, LaVista, Neb., with Rev. Dr. Timothy J. Heupel and Rev. Keith Grimm officiating.

Pallbearers were Jon McNew, Jim McNew, Spencer Yockey, Jason Yockey, Kevin Tadlock, and Chris Miller.

Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mapleton. Memorials will be directed to the family.
