Jerry E. Moore, 84, of Moorhead, Iowa died on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville MO.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Moorhead Christian Church, Moorhead, Iowa with Rev. Michael Brown, officiating. Interment will be at Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the Peter A. Hanson American Legion Post# 365 of Moorhead, Iowa and the United States Army. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the church. A luncheon will be served back at the church following the committal service at the cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Jerry Moore, son of Lee R. and Mae (Goodman) Moore was born on February 24, 1930 in Willow Township. He married Mary Darlene Hutcheson on June 18, 1954 in Yankton, S.D., she passed away on September 30, 1995. Jerry lived his entire life in Monona County and worked as a mechanic for Moore's Garage and the Hardware in Moorhead.

He was educated in rural schools and served in the Army 196th Regimental Combat team during the Korean War where he was stationed in Alaska. He was an active member of the Moorhead Christian Church and served as Moorhead fire chief and city councilman. He was a member of the Peter A. Hanson Post 365 American Legion having held office of commander Adjutant & Finance Officer.

In 1997, Phyllis Roelofsen came into his life with whom they went dancing, traveling and enjoyed each other's company until her death April 15th, 2014.
Survivors include one stepson, Ronald Andersen and wife Becky ofOnawa, Iowa, one son, David Moore and wife Carla of Dakota Dunes, SD , and daughter, Kathy and husband, Jerry Smith of Kirkville, MO. Two brothers, Wilbur Moore and wife, Darlene of Moorhead and Warren Moore and wife Karla of Gilbert, Iowa. Four grandchildren, Kara, Beth, Dan and Eric and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Darlene.
