Dale Mathison, 80, Little Sioux, Iowa died Monday, February 26, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, NE.

Dale was born July 30, 1920 at Soldier, Iowa, the son of Mike and Josephine (Knutson) Mathison. He married Wilma Ferris February 7, 1946 at Soldier. The couple lived in Little Sioux the past 46 years. He worked as a farmer and then took a bookkeeping course in Sioux City, IA. He was employed at Farmers High Yield Fertilizer Co. at Blencoe and later drove a gasoline tank wagon for Carlson Oil Company for 16 years before retiring.

He was confirmed in the Soldier Lutheran Church and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church at Onawa. He enjoyed flying, traveling and seeing the country, attending fairs and horseshows, fishing and wood-working. He always maintained a great interest in high school wrestling.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma; two sons, Dan and David all of Little Sioux; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Darlene Ferris of Blair, NE; nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Annie, Margery and Marie; and two brothers, Mike and Glen.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2001 at Faith Lutheran Church, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Steven Hetzel officiating. The congregation sang "Because He Lives" and "How Great Thou Art". Mardelle Brown was pianist.

Burial was in Little Sioux Cemetery. Visitation was from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa.

Casket bearers were Gale, Jeff, Keith, Danny, and David Mathison and Dennis and Mike Coyle.

Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
