Helen Orr Conner, 94, of Whiting, Iowa died September 19, 2000 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa where she had resided the past seven years.

She was born February 2, 1906 at Castana, Iowa and was the youngest of 11 children of the Johan and Anna (Granland) Erlandson family.

Helen and her husband, Wilbur "Red" Orr farmed at Onawa and Whiting for many years. They also owned and operated Onawa Dairy Queen from 1950 to 1958. After his death, Helen was married to Bill Conner. They managed the Parkwood Apartments in Morningside, Sioux City 20 years.

She was a member of First Congregational Church of Sioux City.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Joann Orr of Whiting; two grandchildren, Melissa Eggerling of Whiting and Linda Alexander of Sergeant Bluff; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew, Scott, Beth and T.J. Fegenbush, Jenna, Joanna and Jackie Alexander and Jennifer and Alyssa Eggerling; three great-great grandchildren, Taylor, Chase and Braden Fegenbush; nieces, E. Louise Coover of Pasadena, CA, Genevieve Summers of Greenheld, IA, Maxine Bowers of Kingsley, IA, Mary Anna and her husband Howard Dunn of Liberal, KA, Ruth and her husband Mike Mikkelson of Turin, IA; and nephews, Marvin Livengood of Ft. Calhoun, NE, Jerry Earlandson of Walnut, IA, and Dean Earlandson of Onawa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Wilbur "Red" Orr and Bill Conner; a son Vernon Orr; a grandson Steven Orr; six brothers and four sisters.

Memorial Services were 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2000 at Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Rev. Reva Karstens, Congregational Church of Whiting, officiating. Music selection was "In the Garden" rendered by Fran Haack, organist.

Memorials have been established with Whiting Public Library and Congregational Church of Whiting.
