29 October 2000MAPLETON, Iowa — Glenn Earl Maas, 87, of Mapleton died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mapleton. There will be no visitation. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Maas was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Danbury, Iowa, the son of August and Adella (Clubine) Maas. He married Marie Amelia Johanna Zobel on June 12, 1932. They farmed in the Charter Oak, Iowa, and Mapleton areas until 1975 when they retired and moved to Ricketts. In 1986 they moved to Mapleton. She died April 7, 1999.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Carl and Susie Maas of Mapleton; two daughters and their husbands, Adeline and Val Kienast of Wayne, Neb., and Betty and Milton Powell of Lawton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Carl Maas, Linda Maas Evernham, Chuck Powell, Rita Davis and Barb DeJong; four great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and two grandsons.
