Mrs. Emma LaVina Thompson a resident of Onawa for the past seven years, died Tuesday, July 3, 1956, after a brief illness, in the Onawa hospital where she was taken the day before her death. She was the mother a Miss Nellie Gray, of Onawa.

Mrs. Thompson was born July 1, 1868, at Bloomfield, Ohio and at the time of her death was 88 years of age. She was married to Daniel Gray on September 29, 1897, at Bloomfield, Ohio. Mr. Gray died in 1900. Later she was united in marriage with Archie Thompson who preceded her in death. Throughout her residence in Onawa she had made her home with her daughter who cared for her during her illness.

Survivors, besides her daughter Nellie, of Onawa, is one son, Harry, of Dallas, Texas. Two grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Other relatives and a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 6, 1956, at 2:00 P. M., at the Downs Funeral Home, at Albia, Iowa, with Rev. Edward C. Fish officiating.

Organist was Mrs. Robert Steele, and Mrs. Margaret Cerrick and Mrs. Elsie Spinks gave comfort in song.

Bearers were Hugh McGinnis, Roy Darby, Marion Brawdy, Judd Hersman and Robert Woodcock.

Interment was in the Pleasant Divide cemetery at Albia. Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
